STUDENTS AGAINST TERRORISM

Some funds are established for a limited duration and other funds are ongoing. One fund currently in its sixth year, STUDENTS AGAINST TERRORISM at Yavneh Academy, recently coordinated efforts with the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation. The student-run organization’s goal is to demonstrate solidarity with the people of Israel by supporting victims of terror. In its six years of existence, S.A.T. has sent over $200,000 to charities chosen by S.A.T. members. In 2007, S.A.T.’s annual Points for Peace 3-on-3 basketball tournament raised nearly $20,000 which will be sent to the One Family Fund.

The tournament included over 300 players, 100 volunteers and hundreds of spectators. S.A.T.‘s leadership efforts to reach other campuses proved successful in 2006 when students at RASG Hebrew Academy in Florida organized an S.A.T. mini Points-for-Peace tournament which raised over $1000.
