As the war with Gaza continues, the needs of Israel and Israelis are evolving. Below are grant opportunities to support nonprofits working to provide support across Israel ranging from supporting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of Israelis to helping support the needs of communities most impacted by the October 7 attacks and more.  In partnership with local organizations, we have compiled this list to reflect a broad range of needs across Israel. However, we recognize that it is not comprehensive, and we encourage you to give to the organizations that most speak to you.

American Friends of Leket Israel

Leket Israel continues to provide meals and food packages to over 234,000 food insecure Israelis, citizens displaced from their homes in the South, and supporting Israeli farmers.

American Friends of Magen David Adom

Magen David Adom needs to purchase 1) ambulances to replace vehicles damaged in the war or stolen and taken into Gaza, 2) ballistic vests and helmets to keep EMTs and paramedics safe, and 3) additional medical equipment and supplies including defibrillators, equipment for our blood bank, and bandages to stanch shrapnel and bullet wounds.

American Friends of Meir Panim

Meir Panim is providing relief to Israelis in the South living under rocket fire and unable to evacuate, providing furniture, toys, clothes, and more to evacuated families from the south, and sending care packages and gear to IDF soldiers.

American Friends of NATAL

American Friends of the Jordan River Village

Jordan River Village is a unique haven in the lower Galilee Region that is currently housing 100+ war-displaced children with disabilities and their family and has been asked by the IDF to host 50-150 returned hostages and their families, and families of hostages who have yet to have been released, with a child-friendly, medically-safe, quiet place to rest, heal, and connect with one another.

American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC)

Many of the communities most directly impacted by the Oct. 7 massacres and the ongoing war with Hamas are also home to Israel’s most vulnerable people — the elderly, Israelis with disabilities, children and youth at risk, and members of the Arab and ultra-Orthodox Jewish communities. The challenges faced by these groups and the hundreds of thousands of evacuated Israelis will grow. JDC is providing trauma and mental health support, economic relief, maintaining pre-war services, and helping rehabilitate Israel’s South.

Americans for Ben-Gurion University

Given its 22-mile proximity to Gaza, the Ben-Gurion University community was greatly impacted by the October 7th attacks and the ensuing war. Americans for Ben-Gurion University is providing humanitarian support to those whose family members have been killed or kidnapped and the 6,000+ BGU student/staff reservists who have been called up to IDF service. As the anchor institution in the Negev region, BGU will play a major role in Israel’s recovery and rebuilding.

Worldwide Friends Foundation – Assure for the Children Trust

Assure for the Children – Supporting orphans of the October 7, 2023 terror attacks in Israel. There are 37 children who lost both of their parents on this day.  Assure has established a forum, bridging together both governmental and private organizations that support orphans, in order to strengthen cooperation and provide an effective and comprehensive response to the needs of the young people who have been left without their parents.

Friends of the IDF

Support IDF soldiers deployed across the front lines and help provide temporary field hospitals, intensive care ambulances, hygiene kits, plasma kits, and other critical needs of soldiers fighting to defeat Hamas.

Friends of United Hatzalah

United Hatzalah is now focused on two main priorities in the next phase of the war: bolstering mass casualty incident preparedness and rebuilding emergency response infrastructure in the south.

Hadassah

Hadassah operates hospitals and community medical centers in Israel and provides care without regard to religion, race, or nationality. The recently opened Gandel Rehabilitation Center at Hadassah’s Mount Scopus location is the only rehabilitation center in Jerusalem and has provided critical treatment to patients injured on and since October 7.

IsraAID

IsraAID is coordinating to support evacuated communities in the near and long-term, coordinating humanitarian needs, opening temporary education spaces, providing mental health support, care packages, and other essential needs to vulnerable populations in Southern Israel.

Jewish Agency for Israel Victims of Terror

The Jewish Agency’s Fund for Victims of Terror has been providing immediate, critical financial assistance to victims and their families. We have already disbursed hundreds of grants, arriving with checks within 24-48 hours, and anticipate distributing more, while also following up with long-term overall recovery and rehabilitative support.

Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas

Our collective actions during this time of great need allowed aid, support, and supplies to reach the most vulnerable citizens of Israel. Since October 7, we’ve raised over $3 million for the Emergency Campaign for Israel–a fund directly benefiting our partners on the ground. We will continue to ask for your support toward this effort until our homeland is at peace.

Jewish National Fund USA’s

The Jewish National Fund-USA’s “Israel Resilience Campaign” supports evacuated Israelis with emergency housing, hygiene products, bedding, and care packages, provides mental health support, and protective equipment to soldiers fighting on the front lines.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum

The organization behind the “Bring Them Home Now” campaign, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum was formed in the immediate aftermath of the October 7 attacks. Its purpose is to advocate for, and raise awareness about, people who were kidnapped and are being held hostage in Gaza. Entirely run by volunteers, the Forum aims to maintain pressure on both the Israeli government and the international community to secure the safe return of hostages.
