The Story Behind the Award
The Meyer L. Bodoff Memorial Award has been generously endowed by Stanford M. Kaufman Family Fund of the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation. Meyer L. Bodoff served as President/CEO of DJCF/SWCF for 12 years. He saw the Foundations through significant change and growth, always guided by his desire to leave the world a better place than he found it. The Meyer L. Bodoff Memorial Award honors the fact that he did just that.

Award Recipients

Lisa R. Newman
Lisa Newman has been serving estate planning and probate clients for over 30 years. She has long been a supporter of the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation (DJCF) and, since its inception, the Southwest Community Foundation (SWCF). Lisa has been one DJCF/SWCF’s strongest advocates and has served as the Chair of the Board, as well as on many Foundation committees. She currently chairs the Professional Advisory Committee. Not only has she referred many clients to DJCF/SWCF for guidance and services around charitable giving, but countless of these referrals have opened funds, be they donor-advised funds, endowment funds, or scholarship funds. She has played an integral role in the growth and success of DJCF/SWCF.

Larry Schoenbrun
Larry Schoenbrun recently retired from Foley & Lardner LLP, where he worked on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions. His nearly six decades at the firm included work representing business owners and executives, working with private equity companies and venture capital investors, and serving as an advisor on an array of corporate matters. He has been a longtime supporter of the Foundation and is a Life Trustee. He has also served as Chair of the DJCF/SWCF Board and on many Foundation committees. He has been involved with many nonprofit organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League, CHAI: Community Homes for Adults, Inc., the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum, the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, and the Texas Hillel Endowment Foundation at UT Austin. Additionally, Larry has been a passionate advocate in the nonprofit community on the importance of setting up endowment funds.

Ira Silverman
Ira Silverman is a well-regarded estate and probate attorney with over forty years of experience. With his CPA and MBA background, he provides thoughtful advice in planning situations and seeks sensible solutions to legal problems. Ira has long been a supporter of DJCF/SWCF and has been one of the Foundations’ strongest advocates. Not only has he only has he referred many clients to DJCF/SWCF for guidance and services around charitable giving, but countless of these referrals have opened funds, be they donor-advised funds, endowment funds, or scholarship funds. His nonprofit volunteering has also included DJCF/SWCF, where his dedication and expertise has been invaluable. Ira has been on the Foundations’ board, including serving as its chair, and he has also served as the chair of the DJCF/SWCCF’s Professional Advisory Committee.
