Amidst rising threats in response to increased hate speech and antisemitism, Jewish organizations in Dallas have increased needs to secure their campuses to protect their constituents.  We are also seeing an increased need to bolster security infrastructure, training, and crisis response in Jewish communities throughout the world.  We have compiled this list to reflect current security needs of local Jewish organizations that were either submitted through DJCF’s Funder’s File or shared with our team, as well as opportunities to support Jewish community security on a global level. However, we recognize that it is not comprehensive, and we encourage you to give to the organizations that most speak to you.

Aaron Family Jewish Community Center (JCC)

We have begun a fundraising initiative to secure $500,000 to enhance security measures at JCC Dallas. Security expenses have doubled since October 7th and these gifts will support expanded security resources and enhancements.  We are grateful for the support of the Mark Cuban Foundation, which has offered a matching grant, pledging to match donations for security up to a total of $100,000.

Akiba Yavneh Academy – Heightened Security

In response to increased threats of antisemitism and the current climate following October 7th, AYA is seeking support to bolster security for the school to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC)

JDC is strengthening community security and leading training across the globe in the face of rising antisemitism and increased hate as well as deploying trauma and mental health services to those impacted by rising antisemitism and concern of hate-motivated acts in Israel and globally.

Congregation Ohr HaTorah

Congregation Ohr HaTorah is one of the largest Orthodox synagogues in the state of Texas. We also have on our premises a Kollel, Mikva, and a large Kosher catering company. With the growing security demands, we have had to allocate more of our funds to fulfill security needs. We would appreciate your consideration when making your donation.

Congregation Shearith Israel – Safe Haven Bullet Protection Project

Made all the more urgent by atrocities abroad and growing antisemitism here at home, Congregation Shearith Israel seeks to make security upgrades to the facility and reinforce lines of defense to deter potential threats and enhance the defensive infrastructure at the shul.

Congregation Toras Chaim

Congregation Toras Chaim is a small, warm shul serving the far North Dallas area. We’d like to raise $15,000 to upgrade some necessary security needs for our synagogue. We are proud of our success in the last 16 years and hope you’ll join us in making sure we have a secure and successful shul in the coming years.

Dor L’Dor – Shabbat Security

With all the antisemitism going on throughout the world, we want to keep everyone feeling safe and comfortable at synagogue. We’re looking to raise $5,000 to cover increased security costs.

Jewish Education Texas

One of Jewish Education Texas’ (JET) main programs is our Sunday School. As a result of what happened on October 7th in Israel and the rise of antisemitism globally, we would like to raise $7,200 to enhance security.

Jewish Family Service of Dallas – Increased Security

Jewish Family Service of Dallas (JFS) respectfully requests funding to bolster qualified security presence on campus to ensure the safety of clients and staff to effectively deliver critical services that JFS provides.

Mikvah Israel

Mikvah Israel, a religious institution servicing women during night-time hours, faces significant risk in a landscape of growing antisemitism. We would like to revamp our security cameras to ensure the safety of our facility.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum

The organization behind the “Bring Them Home Now” campaign, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum was formed in the immediate aftermath of the October 7 attacks. Its purpose is to advocate for, and raise awareness about, people who were kidnapped and are being held hostage in Gaza. Entirely run by volunteers, the Forum aims to maintain pressure on both the Israeli government and the international community to secure the safe return of hostages.
