The Rossel family, represented by Cary and Beverly Rossel, highlights the collaborative experience we strive for when working with individual donors and their families. They share a heartfelt story about honoring the legacy of a beloved father, a world-renowned chef and past president of the American Culinary Federation, through philanthropic efforts focused on community support and education. To perpetuate his memory, a scholarship fund—the Chef Willy O. Rossel Culinary Scholarship Fund—was established at the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation, in partnership with the Texas Restaurant Association, to provide culinary scholarships and opportunities.
Cary and Beverly also highlight the family’s values around teaching generosity from a young age, with their children practicing tzedakah (charitable giving) through saving and donating allowances to causes like feeding the hungry and helping animals. A significant focus is placed on their son Bradley, who has special needs and whose life was deeply influenced by the stepfather. Through this connection, the family became involved with Hugs Café, a nonprofit in McKinney that empowers individuals with special needs by teaching them restaurant and culinary skills, offering them meaningful employment, and community integration. The Rossels emphasize the joy and fulfillment derived from giving back, the importance of endowments for sustaining charitable efforts in perpetuity, and the profound respect and gratitude toward the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation for enabling these impactful initiatives.
