How does an Agency Fund Work?
Why work with DJCF?
As the sole philanthropic services provider in North Texas rooted in Jewish values, we are proud of our partnership with donors, nonprofits and professional advisors. Central to our mission is to promote the work of our agency partners with our community, support special projects and highlight funding needs.
The Dallas Jewish Community Foundation manages endowment and custodial assets for over 55 Jewish and secular organizations across Texas. We work with nonprofits to determine optimal fund structure, governance and investment strategy. Together with our investment advisor, Graystone Consulting, a Morgan Stanley practice that specializes in asset management for social sector organizations, the Foundation provides best-in-class investment management. While DJCF does not serve as your fundraiser, our experienced staff are available to consult with you, your board and committees, and prospective donors about planned giving, endowment strategies and techniques.
By entrusting your endowment to DJCF’s Investment Committee and its professional investment advisors, you demonstrate that you take your organization’s future, its asset management and endowment building seriously, while aligning with a trusted community partner.
Access to expertise in resource development and governance, invitations to timely, content-rich workshops and training programs.
We have experience in accepting a wide variety of assets as charitable contributions. See our current gift acceptance policy here: DJCF Gift Acceptance Policy
At no additional cost, DJCF will manage sub accounting processes for your organization, relieving your finance team of this administrative burden
Frequently Asked Questions:
An agency fund is a custodial account, which means that DJCF holds and manages funds on behalf of another nonprofit organization. The nonprofit retains ownership and control over the funds, while DJCF provides professional investment management, administrative support, and donor services.
Please contact our team at [email protected] with your inquiry. In most cases, we can provide you with a name unless the donor who made the grant has chosen to remain anonymous. If there is a name attached, we encourage you to reach out to thank them and steward the gift. If the donor is anonymous, you can share a “thank you” with our team to pass along.
Whether you’re receiving a gift from a donor advised fundholder, or a disbursement from an endowed fund, you can reach out to our team at [email protected] with questions at any time. Let us know as many details as possible about what you’re expecting to receive so that we can check the status for you.
There is no minimum contribution to establish a self-directed investment fund.
Funds are pooled with DJCF’s professionally managed investment portfolios, which are overseen by an experienced investment committee. For self-directed investment funds, your organization can select from pre-allocated funds or design your own asset allocation strategy. Fundholders benefit from economies of scale and diversified strategies.
A fiscal sponsor is a nonprofit organization that provides fiduciary oversight, financial management, and other administrative services to help build the capacity of charitable projects. DJCF does not currently serve in this capacity.
Yes. Donors can contribute directly to your fund at DJCF, and they will receive a charitable tax receipt from DJCF. This simplifies the giving process and enhances donor trust.
