Why Consider a QCD?
Who is Eligible
To make a Qualified Charitable Distribution, donors generally must meet the following requirements:
- Be age 70½ or older at the time of the distribution.
- Transfer funds from a traditional IRA or other eligible IRA account.
- Direct the distribution straight from the IRA custodian to the charity.
- Donate to a qualified public charity.
- The annual QCD limit is $111,000 per individual in 2026. Married couples with separate IRAs may each make QCDs up to the annual limit.
Please note: Donor-Advised Funds and Supporting Organizations are not eligible recipients of QCDs. Donors should consult their tax and financial advisors regarding their specific circumstances.
How Your QCD Can Make a Difference
Support Immediate Community Needs
Direct charitable gifts provide vital funding to organizations serving people today through food assistance, healthcare programs, emergency response efforts, and other critical services.
Invest in Future Generations
Scholarship and educational funds help open doors for students, emerging leaders, and future generations, creating opportunities that can have a lasting ripple effect throughout the community.
Build Legacy Through Endowment
An endowment fund creates charitable support that lasts forever. Your gift is invested, and a portion is distributed annually to support the causes you care about, while the principal remains intact for future generations. Through an endowment, your values can continue making an impact long after your lifetime.
Create Multi-Year Stability
Many donors choose to establish charitable funds that provide ongoing support over multiple years, allowing nonprofit organizations to plan confidently and focus on long-term impact rather than annual fundraising needs.
