SJCF - Dallas Jewish Community Foundation

Overview & History

Established at the same time as SWCF, the Southwest Jewish Community Foundation (SJCF) serves as a regional hub for Jewish philanthropy, offering the same trusted team and comprehensive services as DJCF, but with an expanded reach across the Southwest. The first fund opened under the SJCF auspices was a private family foundation in Tyler, Texas, that converted its private foundation to a DAF. SJCF manages the grant application, review, and award process on behalf of the family, which is now in its 4th generation of engagement in family philanthropy.

By leveraging DJCF’s proven expertise in charitable planning, fund management, and donor engagement, SJCF empowers individuals, families, and nonprofit organizations to create lasting impact within a broader geographic footprint. Its mission remains rooted in strengthening Jewish life and supporting community needs, while providing donors with personalized strategies to achieve their philanthropic goals.

What SJCF Offers

Private Family Foundation

Led by the Morton H. Meyerson Foundation and the M.B. & Edna Zale Foundation and hosted by DJCF/SJCF, the Tzedakah Minyan is a network for family members and staff of Jewish private foundations. It offers a collaborative space to learn, connect, and explore joint philanthropic opportunities, creating a strong community of engaged foundation leaders.

Grant Lifecycle Manager (GLM)

The Foundation has invested in Grant Lifecycle Manager (GLM), a robust platform designed to manage the full grant lifecycle. GLM supports a seamless and user-friendly application and review process, enabling grant makers and grantees to engage efficiently at every stage. Through online applications and review portals, funding requests are evaluated thoughtfully, and funds are distributed efficiently.

Individuals

SJCF helps individuals and families turn their charitable goals into impactful action by offering personalized guidance and local expertise. SJCF manages funds (donor-advised, endowment, and scholarship), connects donors with community needs, and ensures contributions create lasting benefits for causes that matter most to the donor.
